Happy Birthday Lucan!!!

The events of Sunday 3/14/2010 and the few days leading up to it. Thursday I worked all day long, upstairs on the floor for that matter. So I was on my feet for 10 hours, which at the end of a pregnancy is actually a good thing, eventhough its hard and hurts. I got home that day and had actually had a pretty bad day. I got teased for walking funny, which I didn't think was funny at all. They would laugh at me for how I had to pivot around a corner and waddle and how slow I was and what not, it was pretty rude, I couldn't help it and now i know why. I was also very sick of getting to work and people say "Oh you're still here, no baby" ( I had been a 4 then an almost 5 for two weeks at this point) I just couldn't take that question anymore and left for the day REALLY not wanting to return on monday.

Friday I spent all day with just Ashlee, we went to the park and I climed on the jungle gym with her, swang with her and tried to chase her as much as I could around on the grass. We also went to the pet store and walked around forever looking and learning about all the different pets/fish etc. Next, we went to the duck pond and fed the ducks, her most favorite thing ever to do. She found some duck eggs in the water and brought them home, thinking she had finally found something to be her pet. She was gonna keep them warm and safe and hatch them. We had to have a little discussion about how since they were in the water, they were probably bad and that they wouldn't grow a duck, she understood. When we got home we sat out on the lawn and painted our toes and fingers, it was such a nice day.

Saturday I watched my friends baby and daughter that is Ashlee's age from 1 to 5:30 or so. Ash loves having Ellie over and they play so good together! They wore me out and I was pretty sore and swollen that night but again, nothing to complain about, it was a good hurt. So, when I went to bed that night and woke up like 5 to 8 times which is actually normal for me due to my stupid carpal tunnel, being hot, having to pee and drinking about 4+ glasses of water each night I thought nothing of it. The only difference was that it hurt more than usual to get out of bed. But it always hurt to get out of our bed, its an intelligel bed with a layer of memory foam on top so its super tall and super soft and very hard to get out of even when not pregnant. So this little extra pain I just attributed to the stuff I had done the last few days especially the day before.

But Sunday at 6am I finally woke up and decided to try to sleep on the couch but it wasn't happening and I ended up laying there trying to decide if I was indeed contracting. I decided I wasn't when nothing was hurting at all. My belly would get tight but I just assumed it was the baby moving and pushing outward, not a contraction. Cody woke up 3 hours later and I told him I was wishful thinking about being in labor. We ate breakfast, started our daily routine and even went shopping at Walmart and Albertsons for over 2 hours, we got home and ate lunch. I kept asking Cody, what should I do-go in, call doctor (no I'm a freaking nurse why would I bother him on a Sunday, he's at church) wait til my appt in the am. I just couldn't decide. So we went to the carwash and washed the car. I helped Ash with her homework and cleaned the house. Cody said if you were in labor wouldn't you be saying ouch or something, I said yeah it doesn't hurt at all and if I have to think this long and hard about it then I must not be..At about 4 this tightening kinda started to stop me from doing what ever it was I was doing at the time but still didn't hurt, so I timed it and it was mostly every 1o mins. I tell pts at work to go in at 5 to 6 mins apart so I was still not concerned. Then at 5 I called my doc to see what he wanted me to do and I sure felt stupid doing it, cause I knew the answer...wait!! well much to my surprise he said GO NOW so we did, well sorta..we finally arrived at the hospital at 6:30pm..

I was checked immediately and was a 6, yes a 6..I was having regular contractions and didn't really know it. I was moved into a labor rooom at 7:15 and was a 7. Then at 8 I was an 8, I got my epidural and almost didn't but I was afraid of delivering without one. Dr Ott came to break my water at 8:30 and I was a 9. I felt great!!! I started finally feeling ALOT of pain and pressure and was searching for my epidural button to give me some more medication but I couldn't find it anywhere. Contractions were one on top of another at this point so I quite looking for it and just dealt with it. The nurse came in and I was complete, she asked if I'd pushed my button and I said no I couldn't find it. She found it way over by her computer WAY out of my reach. I pushed it but since it takes time to work and you can only push it once every 10 minutes it was useless. I started pushing with the nurses at 9:45 and then the doc and then Lucan was born at 9:53 at what felt like a natural delivery. Stupid epidural, I knew I shouldnt have got one and I want my money back.

Anyway, Lucan Eugene was born 11 days early on 3/14/2010 at 9.8 lbs**20in**and 35 cm head

17 more days!! :)

As this pregnancy comes to an end, which is both a very happy/exciting time and a very sad time..I thought it would be fun to jot down a few things that I've been thankful for and just some general feelings I have.

I see myself as a pretty happy pregnant person. Why?? because I LOVE being pregnant:) I really do and I'm not lying. I am always annoyed by the people that use pregnancy as a handicap to get people to serve them, think they are disabled and can't work, are always complaining and whining and start to make it known that "I want this kid out of me and NOW!!!", or use it to get attention. Come on is what I say, when you decided to get pregnant, did you not realize what it really meant or what..Pregnancy is not a handicap, nor does it make you any different than the non pregnant person next to you. (All this taking into effect having an uncomplicated pregnancy) I realize there are times when you need to be on bedrest --and have people cater to you and what not. I also realize that some people do get "morning sickness" but I also believe that it is your mind set when you are nauseated and throwing up that makes it bad or tolerable. Wow...that was a can of worms that I just went off on, sorry..

Anyway..

Things I won't miss about pregnancy:

Pregnancy induced carpal tunnel!!!!!
Sleeping with a wrist brace on each hand.
Having no balance or grace
Having a hard time getting in my jeep.
Being hot and sweaty while everyone else is complianing of being cold
Sleeping hot and having to gt up a few times each night to sit someplace cool and drink water
Taking ten minutes to get out of bed while sounding like i weigh 1000 lbs
Not being able to bend over to pick things up.

Things I will miss about pregnancy or that i have been thankful for:

Laying on the couch in the evenings and watching my belly move all over the place:)
The whole fascination of pregnancy, how it makes you feel and all the milestones along the way.
I have never missed a day of work during two pregnancies
I am able to work right up to delivery
I don't get uncomfortable with back pain, etc.
I threw up less than 10 times with both pregnancies combined
How awesome my hair grows
I swear I cry less and fart less too
How cute Ash has been with all her questions, fascination with my belly, always telling brother she loves him and giving him hugs and kisses every day.

So over the next few days as my delivery date comes closer and closer, instead of focusing on when he will decide to come, I am instead gonna enjoy my R&R, put my feet up and enjoy one of the things I enjoy most in life. I am not scared of being the mother of two, nor am I wondering how it will all work out. I am just plain EXCITED!!!!!

4 D Ultrasound at 35.6 weeks

The story is at the bottom.. I was too lazy to redo it so it was right...but each pic description is below the pic.
He's trying to suck on his toes in this picture...Awww!!!

And in this pic he's eating his hands....Sheesh!!
I love his lips in this picture, and his chubby cheeks..(of note, my placenta is right against his right cheek so it sorta distorts that one a bit, its not a deformity)
This is his heart rate..150bpm

I had a second ultrasound today to see how big this boy was right now. The reason, Ash was born 25 days early and weighed 8.6 lbs. I had an u/s with her at this same point and she was predicted to be 8.7 lbs and I delivered 5 days later..I was measuring 2-3 weeks larger than dates with her from about 28 or 30 weeks so we knew she'd be big. With this baby, I have measured exactly on and haven't felt near as big (despite what friends, family and strangers have said--they all think I'll be giving birth to a whale apparently) Anyway, his weight is estimated today to be between 6 and 7 lbs--like 6.8 or something..So right now he is 2 pounds smaller than Ash was at same point. I am dilating already too but nothing impressive (with Ash at same visit I was already 4cm and 80% effaced then delivered 5 days later). At this point in a pregnancy the baby gains 1/2 pound a week until delivery so if I go another 4 weeks he could still be over 8 pounds just not premature like Ash was.

Anyway, that was a lot of rambling on stats. Here are the pics of this ultrasound...Beware, they are adorable.. He has the hugest cheeks and not pictured is his belly. It was huge (98th percentile) So it looks like he is super chubby even though he doesn't weigh much.

Kaelin Wyman Redd

My husband's sister Sarah and husband Justin adopted their second son on Valentine's Day..I wasn't able to go but from hearing the details of the event, it was a very emotional and spiritual experience. Just think for a moment about a newborn baby with two families to love it more than anything. One family trying to prepare to say goodbye to this sweet spirit and the other family saying hello and welcoming him into their arms. I'm sure the initial thought is that this birth mother who has carried this life inside of her and then gives it away must not love him. But it is actually the complete opposite, this mother is stronger than most and loves this boy more than anything, so much that she was able to overcome being selfish, chose not to abort him and instead gave him up for so he could have a better life. I have been thinking of this adoption a lot the past week or two as his due date was approaching and was trying to put myself in both the giving and recieving end of this experience and it often brought me to tears, I could not imagine myself in either situation. Can you??

Anyway, baby Kaelin was born on Fri 02/12/2010 at 1:20pm...he weighed 7.1 lbs and was 19" long. I can not wait to meet him and hold him. And most of all seeing his precious pictures and his older brother Nate (4 yrs old) hold and feed him makes me so much more anxious than I already am for my own son. Here are the few I have, I tried to get more off Cheryl's camera today but we had problems with her card in my printer and she wasn't sure where her cord was so hopefully Sarah or Cheryl will post more soon.

34 weeks update!!

Here is my belly at 34 weeks, nice I know. I can not believe that I have 6 weeeks left already (or 2 1/2 if this pregnancy mimicks my first). I am very excited, and anxious to meet this little guy (Ryler, Luken, or Lucas--Yes, we finally agree on some names) But I truly love the fascination of pregnancy so much that I am also a bit sad that it is almost over, call me crazy I know. Most people about now are screaming "I'm done already, get it out!!!"

I do have 3 things that I could live without right now..the first is Good Ol' pregnancy induced carpal tunnel. It is the most annoying and awful thing. I can't do anything with my right hand without it being numb but yet burning and extremely painful all at the same time. It is something I can't describe, other than this sharp aching/burning pain all the way up to the middle of my arm. I had it bad in both hands with Ash and so far it is mostly right sided for now but it is starting in my left too. Yay!! That means a brace on both hands at night and trying to hang them both off the bed while I sleep, yeah figure that one out.

The second is not so much of a pain, it is mostly funny. My feet get ginormous and it is so funny to look at and play with while making dents and very sexy mind you. Last week they were only huge after along ten hour shift on my feet and in the mornign they'd be bony and cute again. This weeks is a different story, they are permanetly fat.
My third thing not pictured is the freaking heat. Everywhere I go people have their freaking heater turned up to like 100 degrees. Even in my own home Iam not comfortable. My husband thinks it is too cold if the thermostat is set lower than 74/75. And that temp about kills me, especially at night. I hate to be hot anyway when I'm not pregnant and we constantly fight about how freaking hot our house is so this really isn't pregnancy related. In the summer he sets it to 80 and that is just sweltering.

And lastly is my cute nursery.. I am so happy with it!!! I love the colors and how tis turned out so far. I just need to get a few things to hang on the walls and it'll be done.

Belly and Crib bedding

This is what the first set I had looked like and I just couldn't decide to like it. I just didn't like the colors.
I got this one today at Target on clearance for almost half off. I really like it lots!! The colors are more my taste and I like the mix match of it. What do you guys think?? And if anyone knows of anyone looking for crib bedding let me know. I have 3 extra sets now and hope to sell them to get other baby things I need.

Ok I really hesitated doing this but so many people have been asking for it, so I thought I'd honor your request. Here is my belly on 12/27/09 at 27.3 weeks. Ash took the pics so I wasn't ready and they aren't the best but I don't know if I can blame it on the photographer or just the belly. I can't believe I have only 69 days left as of today but Ash came 25 days early so really anything could happen. No names for sure yet either, I can't really decide on what I like (well I can't narrow my list down to less than ten) and Cody hasn't given any suggestions but 2 terrible ones (Leo or Lewis). But boy names are hard. You want one cute but not too babyish yet you don't want an old man name. Sigh!!

play date, baby charlie, cousin nate, temple lights

Ellie, one of Ashlee's best friends. She came over for a play date a few weeks ago and I took them to jumpin jacks before the baby sister came over. they had an awesome time, and i love this place, its a great place for kids to play for hours and they pretty much entertain themselves.
I think Ash was tired or something, something really stupid ticked her off and i just happened to catch this picture of her.

This is baby Charlie, Ellie's little sister. We had so much fun tending her and I loved watching Ash interact with her. I got so excited to see her with her little brother. This first picture is funny. charlie started to scream soon after Ash held her and Ash didn't know what to think of the situation.
Then out came the toys..Ash kept bringing all sorts of things from her baby brothers room for the baby to play with but this baby is still a newborn so wasn't up to much playing yet.

We had an awesome Thanksgiving..on Thanksgiving eve, my dad and Lori came to our house for pizza and a movie. We watched Tinkerbell and the lost treasure which they bought for her along with UP. The next morning, we went to my mom's for breakfast and a quick visit. We had Thanksgiving dinner with Cody's grandparents but for some reason, I didn't take pics of any of this. Bummer!!
Ashlee's only cousin, Nathan, Came from Blanding to visit and spend Thanksgiving weekend with us. On black friday grandma Cheryl and I took the kids to Jumpin jacks and they had a blast but quickly got very tired. Poor short little Nate also had a hard time on some of the slides either going up the stairs or getting stuck somewhere.

Later that night we went to the Temple Lighting with Grandma and Grandpa Chadburn..Aunt Sarah and Uncle Justin and cousin Nate. It was cold but very pretty. We got a group shot of all of us but not on my camera so here are just some pics of my family. After this we went to my house and ate cafe rio take out and watched the new star trek movie..The rest of the weekend was spent eating of course, shopping and playing games with Cody's family. I love Thanksgiving and am so excited for Christmas now. My 5 day weekend went by way to fast though.
