Saturday Fun

So as of Friday at 4pm I was officially done with this semester and on Christmas Break!! The feeling is so sureal, I can't believe I am in my 4th semester of nursing school now and have only 4 1/2 months left. Anyway, Ashlee and I had a fun Saturday together to celebrate no more homework for a few weeks. We started the day off by having breakfast with Santa. She loved it!! She went right up to him and sat on his lap and told him what she wanted for Christmas. I was impressed more than words can say. She got a bag of goodies from him along with the picture of her sitting on his lap and got to enjoy her favorite breakfast..Pancakes. Later that day I took her to her first play.. Sleeping Beauty. It was put on by kids from 5 to maybe 15, it was so cute and Ash loved that too. She especially loved that she got to dress up like a princess, she got lots of attention from people in the audience. Her favorite part of the play was of course the singing and dancing. Here are the pics from our fun day. I look forward to getting to enjoy my friends and family a bit more over the next 3 weeks before I am off and running again on my final semester of school EVER!!

Decorating Our Tree

This year Ashlee is so much more facinated by lights and

Christmas decorations. I can tell that Christmas morning is going to be so much fun. We haven't ventured out to see Santa yet because she came down with a horrible eye infection this weekend. On Sat she is going to get to eat breakfast with Santa so we will see if she still has the same fear as previous years. Here are some pics of us getting our tree up.

I went to the Rotary Bowl for the first time today. I don't really even know what teams were playing, I was mostly interested in the half time show. Due West!!! My cousin is the lead singer and they are so awesome.

Happy Day!!

I don't have any pics of this happy day but I wanted to tell you all about it still. I haven't had a day for a while where I think of the things that have happened and smile and glow, but today was definately one of those days. So it started off by going to the "Student of the Semester" banquet. Yep, I am student of the semester out of 80 nursing students. Its not a huge award with lots of recognition or anything but it is good to know that your instructors notice you and all your hard work and chose you out of the 79 others they could have chosen. I got a really nice lunch and a beautiful plaque for it. Anyway, so I get back to work from the banquet and I get my Christmas bonus from the doctors. It was more than it was last year and in this lovely economy I was expecting it to be less than it was. So that made me pretty happy, it is also good to hear the doctors tell you nice things like how valuable you are and how they appreciate you. So on with my story, one of my last 3 tests is a Pharmacology proficiency test. You are supposed to get a level 3 (the highest level) and if you don't there is this pain in the butt remediation you have to do and it sucks. These books are in addition to our text books, they are fat, and we aren't even taught out of them. So the tests are soooo hard. I have been taking the practice tests at home over and over and got like a 60% or something at the highest. I have until next Wed to take this one in particular but I just spur of the moment went and took it tonight. I knew I was gonna fail and was really frustrated with myself. Well, I pulled of an 80% which is a level 3. I am so freakin happy!!!!!

Teddy Bear Picnic

I took Ashlee to the Teddy Bear Picnic again this year with two of my friends that each have a daughter that is Ashlee's friend. (Ellie & Ava- they all go to preschool together, and I go to school with Ellie's mom and Ava's grandma) It is a small Christmas program held at the Jubilee of Tree's. The kids take their favorite teddy bear and we get to eat pizza, salad, and breadsticks from Pizza Factory. Anyway, It was pretty fun. Ash was excited to see Santa this year. (She still thinks he is bringing her a baby brother, I hope she's not disappointed) We also saw the grinch. (She wasn't too excited to see him) There was some people dressed up as really fat pigs that ran through the tables stealing pizza and breadsticks right of people's plates. I couldn't believe it, Gross!! Also, me and the 4 other girls on the DSNA presidency did a tree for the Jubilee. It was fun!! The tree turned out awesome and was one of the 20 or so that went to auction. Our tree ended up selling for $2,225 and is now in the new IHC daycare on 400 East. Here are the pics of the picnic and our cute Candyland tree..

Dr. Ott

My friend at work took this pic of Dr. Ott at his farewell luncheon. Some of you are probably looking at it and wondering "What the hell?!" Well, he was the one doctor that I worked for that you could get away with playing practical jokes on, why? well because he was usually first at teasing and tormenting you. One day me and one other nurse decided we wanted to show him that he wasn't the only one that could dish it out. We had been planning and saving supplies for months to decorate his car with. He pretty much set himself up for it by leaving his van unlocked with the keys right on the center console. We loaded his van from front to back and top to bottom with blown up balloons and shredded paper from our shredders at work. It was a mess!! Then we wrapped every door shut with plastic wrap with KY jelly and whip cream in between all the layers. We put KY on the door handles and tied condoms to his antenna. Off the back we hung empty Dr. Pepper cans. It was great!!! We got him good. Anyway, I have worked for him for 6 years, he helped me through my miscarriage and he even delivered Ashlee. Through all this we grew to be pretty good friends. He left my office in September however and he is really missed. He was the best ever to work for!! So on his last day and to make sure he never forgot us, the nurses got him a little gift to remember us by. He HATES cafe rio, so we went and got an empty salad container and even got the cover to make it look like it was really a salad, filled it with candy, a pile of fake poop (which we later put on his head because we thought he was a shit head for leaving), a pen that shocks you when you click the top ( I tricked him with one of those once and now he won't borrow a pen from anyone) and then put a fake ice cube with a bug in it in his drink. Then we wrapped him in plastic wrap in rememberance of his van. I think there was more but I can't remember now. Anyway, I was sorting through all the pics on my computer and making sure they are backed up when I came across this photo and had to blog about it. Hope you enjoy!! I think it is probably one of those "you had to be there moments". And for the grace of all I also posted a normal pic of him holding new baby Ash at only 10 days old.

Preschool Picture Day!!

Last month Ashlee had her preschool pics. The theme was "When I grow up.." so Ashlee dressed up as a nurse (imagine that). There is a cute pic of all the kids in her class dressed up it is so cute but I didn't get a chance to scan it in so I could post it. Sorry, so instead here is her dressed up and some of her regular shots too. Her teacher took about 41 pics of her and I'd love to post them all but here are my favorites instead.

We carved a pumpkin for the first time this year. I had no idea what I was doing. Ash had fun and it turned out pretty cute so I guess thats all that matters. Enjoy!! I did three posts in one night.

Preshool Party

Halloween Weekend

Wow what a crazy weekend! On Thursday Ashlee had a Halloween party at preschool. She dressed up and they went trick or treating around the classroom and then I got to go help with the Haloween carnival. Later that night I took her to the College's trunk or treat and she got a ton of candy. My dad and Lori came too and got to see her dressed up. Ashleee's cousin Nathan came down from up north to go trick or treating with her. We took them to 3 trunk or treats and around my mom's neighborhood and also in Cody's parents' circle. I think they both got more than their own weight in candy. They had so much fun!! I had fun too watching them get so excited about it. Little Nathan was so funny, every time someone answered the door he would just walk right in. One time he walked up to a clear glass door and instead of knocking he just walked right into it and fell on his butt. We could not stop laughing!! Saturday we took the kids to the park and geo cacheing. Then later that night we went to the Staheli Farm. We took them through the big corn maze and they had fun doing all the kids things. I was so proud of Ashlee, you may all remember the story of the train ride ont he 4th of July that was a disaster. She would not go on it and was crying in fear. Well when we got to the corn maze she saw the same train and said she wanted to ride it. In my head I was like yeah right.. Well, she did!! She didn't want to sit by Nathan and she didn't need me to go with her either. She left smiling and returned smiling. I am so glad that she is overcoming a lot of her fears. I swear that telling her she is brave instead of introducing her as shy helps more than anything. We had a lot of fun with Nathan (and his parents). It was sad to see them go but they will be here for Christmas and we can't wait.
