Ashlee is a Sandstone Raptor

I signed Ash up for summer Kindergarten and today was her first day. I don't think all the schools offer this but hers does and since it was free, I gladly jumped on the opportunity. She has gotten so smart from her preschool/kindergarten class at Little Gems and she really misses the routine of going to school. So, I figured this would help her stay in a routine so she didn't get bored plus she wouldn't loose all the things she learned at Little Gems. The other thing that helpled me make my decision to start her early is her social anxiety. I figured that if she is already familiar with the school, classrooms, where everything is there and the teachers and staff then what could be better. Once August comes and there are tons more kids, she will not be as shy and anxious and I think will do so much better and have more fun, and hopefully she will start making friends now so she'll have a buddy in August.

This says Sandstone Raptors, lol, she is covering the "R". I could not believe how excited she was for this day to come and the fact that she got to start Kindergarten on her birthday really was cool!

Just before this we were taking pics and she finally said, "Come on mom, I don't wanna be late" and took off.

The school serves breakfast every morning 45 mins before class starts so I went with her today to show her where to go and what to do. She thought it was super cool eating with the big kids. I on the other hand hope she can be independant enough to take care of herself and her own food for breakfast and am still debating on if I'm gonna take her to breakfast or not.

After breakfast, each teacher stood up front and called the names of her students. Some of the kids were taking forever to get up there after their names were called and Ash leaned over to me and wispered, "mom, when she calls me name, I'm gonna run up there as fast as I can" And she did, she beat me up front. Some of the kids look lots bigger than Ash and thats because they have 1st graders mixed in too.

This is her cute class room!! The teacher told us few parents that were there to gives hugs and say good bye and Ash just looked at me and waved and shouted "bye mom!!" I gave her a hug anyway.

One last pic before I left and she gave me this look of "get the heck outta here mom"

All smiles when I picked her up..she really had a great time!! The first thing she said to me was "mom they spelled my name wrong".
Ash I can't believe how grown up you are and that you didn't even cry today (and for the record neither did I). You are the best little daughter and we are so glad to have you as ours. Love, Mom and Dad..And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Safety town

Waiting for graduation to start--Ash is on the 3rd row.

Ashlee and the other T shirt drawing winner being announced as the winners and recieving their special prize. This was the first thing that happened at the graduation. We were at the Dixie High auditorium and that place was jam packed with people and Ash was sitting over in her assigned seat. The lady who was announcing called Ash's name like 5 times but nothing, she even said "is Ashlee Chadburn here?" I yelled out "Yes!" Then we looked over at Ash and she was doing the "she must be talking to the person behind me thing" where you look everywhere but towards the person talking to you. The lady said, "Ashlee, your mom says you're here" Cody and I were laughing then I finally leaned over to Cody and said maybe I should go get her huh? So I got up and walked right in front of the stage clear over to where she was and she instantly jumped up and headed up the stairs to the stage before I even got to her. I was embarrassed knowing everyone was looking at me, so I totally know where she gets this shyness from. Then, the second girl went up, they got their regognition and then headed down the stairs, off the stage and to their seats. The only problem is that Ash in her shyness, just followed the other girl to her seat and then just stood there lost when she got there and didn't have an empty seat to sit in. So again, I have to get up to go get her from where she was and lead her back to her seat. sheesh!!

This is her in her group singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Traffic Light"

And this is her with Eddie the Eagle..after graduation I asked her if she wanted a pic with him (knowing she'd say No) and to my surprise she said yes and ran right over to him. Just when I think she's shy. I really can't figure this girl out.

And our cute little family after. We were in a hurry to get Cody back to work so we don't look to into having our pic taken but it works. And as a side note, notice Lucan at not even 3 months with his toes hanging out and his head almost to the top. He may just graduate to our other car seat sooner than Ash did.

This is her cute drawing. All I helped her with was the idea of writing out "safety town" like that and she did the rest of the decorating.

This is the first day as she got her name tag. Gotta love the boyish socks up to her knees with the long shorts. Once again I can't figure her out. She's all about make up, body spray, dresses, barbies and other girlish things. Yet sometimes she wants to dress like this, pick of lizard tails, bugs and go to really scary adult movies. Well rounded I guess, I dunno.

Walking into Safety Town, I can tell she's a bit nervous by looking at the grasp she has on her shirt with both hands. Ha

As we were walking up, she said.."hey mom take a pic of me sitting on that bench! It'd be cute I think".

Grrr!!! The pics are backwards and I don't want to start over. So you actually see the grad pics first, then the pics from her first day are last.

I put Ash in Safety Town this year and she had a BLAST!! Class was every day for two weeks and she got to experience a lot of fun safety things by having a diff guest speaker come every day. They got to ride in cop cars, ambulances, fire trucks, a school bus. They learned about gun safety, fire safety, calling 911, stranger danger, and her favorite was when they got on a camp trailer type thing and were in a bedroom on a bed that started filling with smoke and she had to get off the bed and onto the floor and climb out a windwow. I thought that was cool cause when does a kid ever kid to learn about being in a fire with such close simulation to the real thing. She was the Tshirt winner as well. Which means the kids got to draw a picture about safety town and enter their drawing to be printed on the Tshirts worn by all the kids this year. I had no idea she won til I picked her up on the first day and out she came wearing this shirt, she was so happy to see if I noticed her drawing on it. The last day was the graduation

Memorial Day

Each year my dad's side of the family goes to Mt Carmel to visit all our relatives that have been buried there. Specifically my grandma Pat. She passed away March '04 peacefully in her sleep and I miss her so much. She was my favorite grandma and Cody and I had moved to Wyoming 10 months before she died so I still to this day feel like I didn't get a fair chance to spend time with her before she was gone. Anyway, it was a fun picnic this year. I got to see a few cousins that I haven't seen in a while, many got to see Lucan for the first time, and I got to finally see my aunt that was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a great trip!! However, just as we were finally all settled and finished eating and just getting the chance to really visit good. My grandpa decided to give us all a scare. He passed out while getting his hair cut and those that witnessed it thought for sure he was having a stroke or dead. I wasn't one of the witnesses but when I heard the commotion and ran over to see what was happening, he truly looked like he was dead or had just become severly mentally handicapped. He just had this certain awful look to his eyes, he was a very ghostly white, and had urine all down his pants. He had even thrown up so, I called 911 cause we were out in the middle of bfe and I wanted to get them there before I assessed him to see how serious it was. While we waited for him we got grandpa down on the ground in the shade, got some cool rags on him, and I checked his pulse, breathing, and did a quick neurological check. He seemed to pass that just fine so I just figured he was dehydrated, or had low blood sugar. The ambulance came, checked him out, gave him some oxygen and then ended up not taking him. We just got him comfortable ourselves and someone took him home. Here's a couple pics I managed to take before all the commotion hit.

first cereal

Lucan's dr said that i could start him on cereal earlier than usual cause he is so big and at times is quite the ravenous eater. I tried one day thinking he'd just gag and push it out and totally not be ready. But, to my surprise he did really well with it. His tongue reflex was gone and he didn't gag once. It was pretty funny cause he devoured the whole bowl in just a few seconds flat and we weren't very messy either. I have a feeling this boy is gonna always know how to eat. This video doesn't really capture his impatience with my spoon work or his cute sounds he makes while he eats (cause of my noisy attention seeking commentator in the background) but you get the idea. (well, unless your stomach can't handle it like Ash's, she gags when I feed him cause it looks gross and she hates his face being messy)

They have this amazing bond right now

Lucan is 10 weeks old in these pics and I just thought he looked cute

Gone Jeepin'

Cody and I used to always go 4 wheeling in our jeeps (we've had 3 since we've been married). But, the poorer we got the less and less we'd go. Ash loved it the few times we went when she was younger infact thats what we were doing right before I had her. Anyway, on May 22nd, cody planned a fun picnic and Ash and I were soooo excited to go. It was Lucan's fist time in the wide open wrangler so I was a little unsure how he'd do but he didn't fuss at all. And it was so cute to see him looka round and talk to the trees and such when we uncovered him while we were driving slow on the dirt roads. We found a cute pic nic spot but as we devoured our lunch, some nats devoured us so we packed up and left to explore somewhere else. Ahs got to sit shotgun so I could sit by Lucan in the back and she made us laugh the whole day by the funny things she'd say or ask aobut. One particularly funny thing was as we were driving along the road to Gunlock, she kept seeing the yellow road signs with a sguiggly arrow aon them. Ash told us they were there cause we had to wiggle every time werdrove past and then she'd stick her hands in the air and shake her butt in her chair. i love this age!!
