Catch up with Words!!

I have about 200 pictures on my camera and I haven't posted anything since Ash and I went to the Fair in August. Yup, I am behind and can I do anything about it?? Nope!! So I am gonna update in words what has gone on with each of us then to now.
Cody:
He started to play paintball and is on a team with a bunch of guys from St. George. He has a lot of fun going to the team practices and competing. He still works as the transmission rebuilder at AAMCO Transmissions. He likes it but doesn't love it. He has also been crossfitting with me since about July. I am so proud of the commitment he has made to go and we really enjoy the time together. He doesn't see it but he is looking really good these days and it has helped his spirits too.
Tawsha:
I still work as an RN at Southern Utah Womens Health Center where I have been for 14 yrs. I recently had some "personality" struggles there (for lack of better words). I was getting in trouble for things that are not typical of me and I was getting pretty frustrated with it. I felt like someone was out to get me and really test my patience. I have now not gotten in trouble since Thanksgiving (I think, I forget now when it was) and I regained my boss' approvel as a strong part of the team.

In Jan I signed up for my first 5K race ever, it was an emotional event for me. I remember waiting at the start line with tears pouring down my face. Cody was right there and said if you don't wanna do this, you don't have to. He didn't get it, I wasn't afraid or being forced I was just so HAPPY to be standing at that start line. Thanks to crossfit, I was able to succeed at something I never thought possible. My time was 25:49 and 9th in the women's age group:) I was so proud of myself!!

I just had my one year crossfit anniversary and I am proud to say that I am a crossfitter for life. I am fit, strong, and have a clearer mind because of it. My body isn't perfect, but that isn't the reason I started in the first place. I did it for health, energy, and self esteem and I now have all 3 of those. I have less anxiety, patience, and energy to be a mom and I LOVE IT!!!
Ashlee: 6 yrs and 11 months

She has lost 5 teeth since September. She has an extra baby tooth in between where her top middle teeth were and her eye teeth. She hasn't lost that one yet and really needs to. It looks ridiculous!!

She jusr finished 1st grade and her teacher calls her a "smarty pants". She is on a 4th grade reading level and a 3rd grade math level. I could always tell she was extra smart when she was a baby. She could sing Twinkle Twinkle before she was one, and new her ABC's and colors so well. She really loves to read and write and could pick up on words to songs on the radio so fast. And her logic is amazing to me. She outsmarts me a lot and catches me when my words aren't right.

She is always doing extracurriclar things. She did soccer this spring. She has fun but isn't very aggressive at it. She isn't any worse than any other girls on the team (to me she is just like all of them-except for the couple that just have the knack at it). She has been taking jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, and cheer. And loves hip hop the most.

She is getting her "kissing" tonsils out on June 27th and is actually excited for it. They almost touch and hurt her all the time. She snores and for her birthday she asked to get them out. She turns 7 on June 14th and will get them out just after that. She says she snores too much and princess' don't snore and thats why she wants them out for her birthday.

She is really the best daughter ever. She is task oriented and uses that to help me around the house ALOT!! She is good at keeping her room clean and is always asking if she can clean up. She will write a list of chores and stick to getting them done without me even telling her to. One day when I got home from work, she had cleaned her room, her brothers room, made his bed and hers and vacccuumed the living room for me without being told it needed to be done. She said, it was messy so I did it!!
Lucan: 2 years and 3 months.

He is a pretty cute shaggy haired little boy. He fell on some wooden stairs at grandmas house just before Christmas and had to get 3 stitches..he was a tough boy, but grandma was not very tough. He is a boy for sure but I wouldn't call him "all boy" like some. He isn't a huge climber, he isn't rambunctious (sp??), he doesn't break things, and he isn't messy all the time. Infact he will get upset if he has snot running out his nose or if his hands are dirty and sticky. He talks a lot (the doctor always says for a boy he says more words than normal) Maybe its cause he has a sister who won't shut up at home, lol.

He has now had ear tubes for 15 months and they are doing their job. We made it through the winter infection free. Now knowing my luck we will have to get them surgically removed or something. He has reactive airway disease though so every time he gets a cold it goes right to his chest and he has trouble breathing..Right now he has strep throat and cervical nodes so swollen he can't move his neck. He is a pretty miserable little boy and I am a pretty grumpy mommy.

Last night he was trying to sit on the couch and he said, "move over dad". We laughed. Then he gave a toy to Cody and Cody tried to give it back. Lucan said " No I don't want that back dad" His longest sentance ever.

He is clumbsy and falls down just standing in one place, its funny! He loves motorcycles, balls, and his big tub of cars. He is also a very clean boy. He puts his shoes where they go and loves to throw trash away. I have found him lining things up and picking up his toys with out being asked.

I LOVE MY KIDS!!!

rodeo

This year I took Ashlee to the rodeo all 3 nights. I have wanted to do that for so long but just never had the time or money. But we were given tickets to the first night, my dad bought me tickets to one night and so I bought the third night. The first night I went with Alan (my mom had to work). It was really fun. Ash sees the muttin bustin every year and says she wants to do it, then when it comes down to it she says she won't do it. (its actually something you have to enter and get drawn to do) but this year she saw the little kids dressed as clowns chasing the sheep and said she wanted to do that. she bugged me the whole first night about how those kids got to do it and could she do it please. i had no idea what to do, i figured if you had to be chosen special out of a drawing to ride then it worked the same for the clowning too. but the next morning i text my uncle who is a member of the lions club and is usually out working the rodeo. he said he needed to check with someone and then he'd get back to me. much to my surprise, he text me back and said to just dress her up and send her out and he would watch for her. i was so excited and so was ash when i told her i got her signed up. well fri night i had mandatory cpr training with work clear out in green valley and the rodeo started at 8. and i had paid for reserved tickets. cpr went over and i raced home to find ashlee asleep. luckily i had already gathered what we needed so i scooped her up and headed to the rodeo. she was still asleep when we got there and got out of the car but i made her walk and she kinda woke up. i was a little nervous we'd miss it but we got in, headed to the bathroom to get dressed up and then to our seats and i did her hair while we waited and not for long. we watched one event and then they called all the kids out. i was prepared for her to be too embarrassed and too tired to care but to my surprise she climed over the fence and went to work. it was the cutest thing ever and she did so good. thanks uncle kyle for the hook ups. she will never forget this night. she had so much fun infact that she did it again the next night. we got more creative with her outfit and even painted her face. i took lucan this night and he did pretty good. he mostly preferred to climb up and down the stairs but other than that he was a trooper.

first county fair

I took Ash to her first county fair and we had a blast!! we hit the ferris wheel first and this video pretty much explains that. After that she went on a kid ride and hated it. She took me on the gravitron twice and two other adult rides that she was tall enough to ride but were pretty scary. I got so sick and she loved every minute of it.

little mermaid

this is the only pic ash would take with the mermaid..she wouldn't get close to the real ones.

she wanted to dress up like a princess to go see mermaid. i think she looked very pretty!!

waiting for the show to start

I wanted to go to little mermaid so i took ash for my birthday..good deal right!! i had fun out on or mommy daughter date. the show was amazing..the effects were fantastic. we sat right on the front row and loved being so close. we got soaking wet and laughed and laughed when bubbles were blowing and popping in our face.

Ashlee's First Lost tooth..

Ash lost her first tooth on Sept 3, 2011..It had been a loose tooth for quite a while. She gaurded it very well. One day Cody and I were taking a nap while Lucan was too and she was just doing her own thing in her room. When I woke up and went to check on her she was sitting on her bed eating an apple. I asked her how she was doing and she said good but this tooth of mine is really bugging me. I want it out NOW!! I wanted to make this first experience a fun one to remember so while daddy and Lucan were still asleep we looked on youtube about kids loosing their first tooth. Thats when I decided we better get the video camera out. I just handed Ashlee some gauze and let her do her own thing. She tried all sorts of things and we got it all on video. She is hilarious. She copied all of what she saw on you tube and we were laughing so hard that this wasn't scary for her at all. I was the one to finally pull it out though. She was gettting sick of trying. All I had to do was touch it with the gauze and it fell out in my finger. She didn't feel a thing and when I showed her the tooth she was so dang happy..

The tooth fairy wanted to make this first tooth a special treasure too so she brought lots of goodies but nothing too big and fancy at the same time. Fairy dust sprinkled her bed. She got gum, a tooth brush, toothpaste and $1 in change. She was very satisfied!!!

crossfit before and now.

A close up of my face, Sept 2010.. one year ago when lucan was 6 months old. Look at those chin rolls.
Memorial Day 2011..had just started crossfit a few days before this, look how thick my gut is!!

Sept 2011 :)

First Day of School

Just like Kindergarten away she goes and doesn't even look back.

Here comes the bus..she loves going to the park cause she can play with her friends on the swings while they wait for the bus. I think she feels torn though cause she has another friend and close cousin that use the other stop. At the first of the year she was mixing up which one she used and it got confusing for her and us and caused some scares so we made her pick one and stay with it.

Such a pretty girl, she always takes a perfect picture (in my eyes anyway). Something about this picture though makes her seem way more grown up than usual..

Had to get our yearly pic by the Raptor rock..it will be fun to watch her grow by this rock each year. Last year she was only up to the A, she grew alot!!!

Here is her at her desk..she is so excited to have a big girl desk instead of just a table to share. This desk has a cubby just like the ones I remember in school.

Meet the teacher day..we got our first pick for her teacher. Mrs Webster!!! We heard nothing but good about her and was actually surprised we got her since she is the highest demand..and funny thing, she is a huge Paula's fan so she knows grandma Cheryl already. It is gonna be a great year!!!

Chadburn Family Annual Campout

All I am gonna say is this was supposed to be a family reunion but it ended up being only us and Cody's parents. We went to lake powell and camped but long story short we were without a boat due to some last minute problems, and late decisions by Cody's sister and brother in law. We still made it fun but it would have been a million times better with a boat.

HAWAIIAN LUAU

Ash had a ton of friends over for her 6th birthday, it was another water party in our back yard!! The third year in a row infact, I guess thats what you get with a summer birthday.

my baby girl graduated from Kindergarten

bottom row about the middle of the pic with a pink and green bow in her hair.

this is her self portrait..pretty good job i think. most of the other kids just scribbled...lucan had enough of this night, he was ready to get outta this place.

May 2011-I can't believe Ashlee graduated from KG. She read most of the year on a first grade or higher level. She passed all the requirements and missed just two days of school the whole year being out of town. She has grown so much and I can't believe she is moving on to 1st grade ALL DAY!!

Easter

I finally learned one negative thing about having kids 5 years apart..Easter egg hunts and pics of the kids hunting is impossible unless you have two parents and two camera's. I being one who stresses A LOT about time and order was trying to figure out how to have ash hurry so we could get up to daddy and Lucan on the other side of the park and get pics of him too. But thank goodness 5 yr olds hunt a lot faster than 1 year olds..We got to him and got some cute pics and Ash loved coaxing him a long..

Lucan had surgery!!!

On March 23, 2011, Lucan had surgery. He was such a good and brave boy!! It was so sad though to see him dressed in his little gown and then have him taken away. I knew he'd be ok and that the procedure was simple but being an RN has its set backs sometimes (I always think of the worst and strangest situations). Surgery was quick and recovery was longer. I can't explain how it felt holding my half asleep screaming baby, that would not be calmed by anything. He thrashed and screamed and thrashed some more and Cody and I took turns holding him til we couldn't take it anymore. We got home and he was pretty sleepy for a while but then he was back to normal and started walking that very next day. His poor ears were holding him back this whole time. He must have felt like he was walking on a cruise ship the whole time, hence the stumbling and tipping over constantly.

My fitness journey!!

My fitness journey started in February 2011. My baby was almost a year old and I was bigger than I had ever been. I was outgrowing all my clothes and was very depressed about it. I ate what I wanted, when I wanted, hardly got off my couch, had little energy to go play with my kids, and often took naps instead of spending time with myfamily. As an RN, I knew about all the medical problems that faced me if I continued down this "unfit and out of shape path" I was on. I decided it was time to do something about it and that day I realized the importance of loosing weight, getting in shape, and becoming healthier and happier. My kids and my family needed me, and I was not there for them physically or mentally like I should have been. I was loosing focus at work and on my responsibilities as a wife and mother at home. One of the PA's I work with had put together a weight loss clinic for our patients which involved 8 weeks of no pop, candy, cookies, donuts or chips; working out 5 days a week; and a prescription for an appetite suppressant. I had her measure me like she would any other patient just to see where I was. When she put those numbers on paper it brought to life what I already knew was true. The next day I quit my 4 to 6 can a day of DP habit and also stopped eating candy. I cut back the portions of everything I ate and focused really hard on only drinking water. I did not want to do the prescription she offered but I did want to exercise. But this is where I got stuck. I lost twenty pounds from diet modification alone, which tells you how much pop and candy I was putting in my body. I was happy with my weight loss up to this point, but something was missing and I could not put my finger it. I have never worked out in a gym, I own some select exercise equipment; a treadmill, bowflex, and an airdyne bike but rarely, if ever use any of it. I have a jogging stroller but don't use that, a good friend of mine is a zumba instructor and that looked fun but I just had no motivation to do any of it. My lack of motivation is from being shy, lazy, and just having no desire to be out in public so obviously out of shape and self conscious. I tried writing down a work out schedule for a month and I didn't even stick to it a week. I would walk/run on my treadmill and hated every minute of it. I drug my feet, held onto the bars and very anxiously watched the clock telling me I was done. The bowflex stayed folded up and I probably rode the stationary bike twice, it was just boring and tortuous. So I stopped and gave up on exercising all together. I figured I would just stay off pop and candy and eat smaller portions and have that be the end of my fitness journey. I did have more energy but I still just wasn't happy and I felt like no matter how much weight I lost, unless I brought some sort of fitness into my life, my journey would never be complete. Well May came along and my husband's cousin, who I saw as a fitness guru, started talking about some CrossFit thing on facebook. She wanted to go but had no body to go with. FEAR was my first reaction. Fear of working out like I was at boot camp or in the police academy and knowing that I could never do anything intense like that. It just sounded scary. Also, fear of being in public. I thought, if I go there I will be the only one who has no idea what they are doing and I will make a complete fool of myself. I imagined a room full of people all fit and buff staring and laughing at me and it literally scared me to death. Well, its pretty obvious that I decided to go or I wouldn't be writing this story. I walked in and Ryan, one of the trainers, immediately greeted me by my first name. This immediately put me at ease. Little did I know this AWESOME guy and his facility would change my life FOREVER. Infact, to date I have gone to 54 workouts and thanks to all 4 of the amazing trainers at this facility, I have done what I never in a million years thought lazy, shy me was possible of. Simply saying that my life has changed does not even come close to the reality of how I feel. One of the very first workouts involved running, which I am not good at and hate with a passion. Both Ryan and myself wondered back then if I could even run a lap around the building and survive, so he ran along with me and tells me now that he really didn't think I was gonna make it that day. One of our recent WOD's, just two months later, was running a 5K on a course around the gym. When they told us we were doing that, I just about went home. I just knew I was gonna end up walking most of it or worse not even finishing. I did not want to deal with the humiliation. But I gritted my teeth and took off when they said "GO!" and I didn't look back. I did what I never would have done just two months prior. Not only did I finish that 5K but I ran the whole thing and came in FIRST!!! When I finished that race I sat down and cried and while I cried I was also smiling from ear to ear. That moment is when I realized that this is what was missing. I had finally found the one thing I needed to complete my fitness journey. Thanks to CrossFit Zion not only am I stronger and in better shape, but more importantly I am happier with myself outside and in, I am more confident in public, and have the energy I need to keep up with my two kids. I have lost 7 more pounds since starting CrossFit and through this whole journey have gone down 7 pant sizes and from large to small scrubs for work. I know without a doubt that I would not be where I am today both physically and mentally without CrossFit. It has taught me that I am capable of way more than I thought and that exercising can be fun. It has improved my realtionship with my husband and my kids. There are so many people I need to thank for making this part of my life possible. First of all, Pam for taking me and teaching me the ropes, Cody for letting me be gone so much (he has joined me there now and is also doing really well on his journey), my two kids for being cooperative, and ESPECIALLLY all the trainers and fellow crossfitters for making it such a positive environment. There is nothing but support and encouragment at this place and that is the key to being successful. For an inexperienced couch potato like me I would never have accomplished this by working out at home on my own or even going to the typical gym filled with negative energy. I wish everyone would go give CrossFit a try, the possibilities are endless and you do not know what you are missing out on until you try it for yourself. I can't tell you enough what it has done for me, I will be forever greatful for the way it has changed my life now and forever!!!!

Happy Day

Today was WOD#29 for me and #12 for Cody.
The WOD 21, 18, 15, 12, 9, 6, 3.
Front squats 95/65
sit ups
jump squats
30 sec wall sit after each round.

I used the 45 lb bar for the whole workout..I wanted dumbells by me incase I had to drop down in weight...I searched and searched for the 15's but they were missing, so I got 20's. But I didn't need to use them. Pam told me I was going too fast as I was finishing my 6 reps and I was gonna go up for the last set of 3 just to try but the 65 lb was taken and I didn't wanna weight, so I just kept my momentum going. I finished the WOD in 19:20..after I stretched out I had Cody come spot me for the 65 lb and I did 3 or 4. I left with a good feeling today, felt worked, tired, the right amount of sore and I knew I had improved..When I got home I was looking back in my CrossFit folder and realized that WOD #4 was also a front squat and I used a PVC pipe..I can't stop smiling knowing that I improved that much..Cody did awesome, he used 75 lbs for 5 rounds and then 85 lbs for the last two..He looks so good lifting too, I love it!!

WOD #28

whimp, wus, and weakling are the words that come to mind after todays wod..i was so frustrated today and i wanted to quit so bad. but cody was doing the workout too and if i stopped i would have only had to stay there and deal with being a quitter so i kept going..the wod was:
50 shoulder press
5 toes to bar
40 push press
5 toes to bar
30 push jerks
5 toes to bar
20 dumbell shoulder press
5 toes to bar
10 lateral press
5 toes to bar
and my time was 25:22
its not the time i am mad about, its the weights i had to use..i started the shoulder presses out with the 45 lb bar and i did half (with lots of breaks) and then finished them with a mostly 20 lb dumbells or 15 lb dumbells and every once in a while i would grab the bar again..the push presses i started out with the bar again but couldnt do many at all so i did the same thing with these ones rotating between the bar and theh 20's and 15's..the push jerk just sucked..i tried one with the bar but because of the rhythm you needed with this and the coordination i was afraid of dropping the bar on myself so i used the 15 lb kettle weights so that i could get the exercise down good. the shoulder presses by this time killed and i shook each time i pushed the weights above my head so i used the 15 dumbells..the lat presses i tried the 15's but i couldn't get them high enough so i used 10 lb dumbells..i was almost the last one done. pam was behind me but she used the bar the whole time so it still got to me. she was struggling like me and at one time one of the trainers was in her face coaching her through some tears, and i kept thinking she is pushing through and struggling like me. why can't i push through. before the wod started one of the trainers saw pam showing me the way to do the toes to bar on the floor and came over and said "you aren't gonna wus out are you" it rubbed me wrong for one he didn't smile like he was joking when he said it and 2 this demonstration wasn't for me. i have never done them this way and he knew that so to say it made me think that he thinks i wus out all the time..then when i couldn't lift crap i felt like i did wus out so i left when we were done and had teary eyes the whole drive home. i will get over it but i was just mad at myself today. it was the first time i had felt this way and i don't like it.

got behind again..wod's 24 to 27

6/24 TABATA
plank hold for 20 seconds..i did the hardest way all 8 rds
wall sit
kettle bell swings...i did 20 lbs for the first rd then did 15 lbs for the other 7=73 reps
box jump..i jumped on the tire this time..wahooo!!!!!=70 reps
hammer curl...i did 15 lbs for 1 rd then did 10lbs for the last 7=62 reps
for a total of 205 for TABATA score...

This was one painful workout

I wasn't able to go Sat the 25th..I was able to take Cody, Ashlee, Cody's parent's and sister and our nephew to CARS 2 for free through my work..One of the care centers intown reserved the theater and invited my office to thank us for our referrals..it was a good movie. I was sad to miss working out but once i heard the WOD I was ok with it!!

6/27 WOD #25
100 pull ups
100 kettle bell swings
100 double unders
100 overhead squats

When they posted this WOD on FB the night before my first thought was "yeah right, this must be a sick joke or something". But I talked myself out of the "maybe i will just skip this one" stage and I went. And I was once again proven that your body can do more than you think it can. Is it the environment that makes it happen or am I actually getting physically stronger??
I did all 100 pull ups on the easiest band the black one. I had moved up to green and have slowly started doing the blue. Ryan asked us to do one lower than our normal and so I was trying to decide on doing blue since I was new at that color or going up to red or purple (which ever was next). Tammy saw my confused look and asked if I needed help. I told her what I was trying to decide on and she said to just to black since I was doing 100 and then I could finish them. So thats what I did.
For the kettlebell swings I used a 15# for half and 10#for the other half.
I still can not do a single double under so I did 300 single jump ropes
The over head squats I first attempted with a 45# bar and about dropped the bar on my head so I decided to be safe and used the PVC pipe instead, and it was a good thing too cause I fell on my butt about half way through as I was squatting once. Way embarrassing!!!
My total time was 28:30

6/28 WOD#26
Today was fun..we did our normal warm up and then checked to see what our max dead lift was. According to the CrossFit chart Tammy showed us for the fitness challenge you are healthy if you can lift your body weight and fit if you can lift double your body weight..I could only max lift 85#'s..I tried to do 95#'s but my form was bad so I dropped ten off.
For the WOD we then did 5 dead lifts at 75% of our max, 5 turkish get ups, and 50 sit ups. We did this 3 rounds for time.
My dead lifts were 65#'s, I used the 10# kettlebell on each arm, and did all 50 sit ups the right way. My time was 16:48!!

6/29 WOD #27
AMRAP for 15, rest for 3 mins, then another AMRAP for 5.
AMRAP #1
10 "2-4-1" wall balls-2 w/6lb and 1 w/8 lb
10 Burpees-all the normal way but slowly: 40 total
200 m Run-a total of 700m
for a total of 3.5

AMRAP #2
20 walking lunges: 40 total
15 box jumps: 45 total, used the stool
10 push ups: 27 total
for a total of 2.5
and a grand total of 6

This last WOD was crazy hard!!! I was hot, dizzy and sweating my butt off. i was so shot that I couldn't even do Zumba. The couple things I was proud of on this one was that I did the burpees the right way (they were a little slow) but I still didn't go on my knees or one leg at a time.
Tonight Tammy told me how good I was looking and that I look like I have lost a ton and reshaped already. I have only been doing this for a month now and I love hearing these comments. I am sure they tell everyone this since it helps or confidence and keeps us coming back. But still, it is nice to hear..I am so glad my cousin Jeri told me about her doing crossfit in Seattle and then even more greatful that Pam broke me out of my shell and took me. I am even more greatful that Ryan D, Ryan N, Chad and Tammy are so awesome!! I love this crossfit thing!!

CrossFit Day #23

Todays WOD was an AMRAP for 20 mins.
5 pullups
10 wall balls
15 push ups
1 lap (we ran inside cause it was so hot today, so it was 4.5 laps) not sure on the distance

I was able to get through this 7 times. I was about 1/4 short of finishing my final 4.5 laps. But Pam talked to me during my 5th set of pullups and I accidentally did 10 pullups, so say that makes up the lost 1/4 lap and makes it an even 7. I wanted to make sure I didn't run too many laps or not enough so I counted on my fingers as I was running and wondered if people saw my fingers held out while I ran. lol!! Lucan was screaming the whole time and I was so frustrated..thanks to all the strangers that tried to console him so Cody and I could finish and a HUGE sorry if he annoyed anyone.

Well we got a late start on the WOD and so he had like no time to recover before we did the fitness challange. One of the trainers weighed and measured us..I am down 20 lbs from 5 months ago. also down 5 inches on waist and 2 inches on hips. Our assessment was push ups, pull ups, sit ups shoulder press and 50 yard dash..We had to do each thing for a minute and then our run was timed. I did 28 modified push ups, 11 pullups with a green band, 28 sit ups, 10 shoulder presses with 15 lb hand weights and then I ran 50 yds in 18:54..I can't wait to see where I am in 6 weeks. Cody is doing this with me so hopefully together we can eat better and i can get him off pop like me..He kicked butt but won't let me chart anything. I know I won't win this challange only cause I am up against some tough chics. but I am gonna improve and that is all that matters that I beat myself. I can only do better right? And I am so happy that Ryan is the best hearted person. I had bought myself a groupon from www.southernutahdeals.com for an unlimited pass for only $30 normally $85..Cody was not at all interested then but then I was able to get him going long after the groupon was no longer for sale. Ryan went ahead an honored one for him anyway and we paid that this week. So Cody will be going for an unlimited month and I was gonna pay $40 and do 3 days a week in July but since Cody won't go alone he said I could pay for another unlimited pass to go a lot with him. I am so excited that he is letting me do that!!

CrossFit Days 19 to 22

I can not believe I have done 22 workouts to date..I can't even explain in the right words how my mind, body, and self esteem feel so much better...Fabulous doesn't even cut it..
Anyway our WOD was called Elizabeth..with just two movements..Power Cleans and Ring Dips.
The object was to do 21 then 15 then 9 reps of each for time. I did the power cleans with the 45 lb bar the whole time..my form wasn't perfect but it was close..I was really concentrating on form so I went slow..Ring dips I used the blue band to help me modify and it was so hard..The thing that made me happy today was during the warm up I used the blue band the whole time for my 10 pullups..I started with the black band then moved to green and now I am on the smaller band blue..After blue is red then purple (i think and then you are on your own on the pullups). I feel very happy with my progress on this along with finally being able to do a sit up and not just a crunch. My next hope is to do a regular push up..I keep doing them off my knees.

WOD #21
5 rounds for time
10 dumbell alternating shoulder press with a twist-I did the 20 lb RX
10 single arm kettle snatch-RX was 30lbs but I did 20
10 sumo dead lift high pull-RX was 65 lbs but I did 45 for the first round or maybe two then I did the same movement with 30 lbs for the last ones.
5 hand stand push ups-didn't stand on wall, did them off a bench
25 double unders or 75 single jump ropes-did 75 singles
100 meter over head extension carry-did the 10 lb RX
and it took me 32:22 and I did all 5 rounds. They said at the beginning to do 3 and go on if you were ok..the first am workout group did 3 then after that she said most people did 5. The WOD looked scary scary to me and I told Cody that I was gonna do 3 and then see how I was. Well I got to 3 and then felt OK enough to do one more. So, I did a 4th and then thought what the hell I may as well finish this and do one more..I did and I am pretty sure I was last but I didn't care..All these movements (except the jump rope and handstand push up) were new to me. So I was really concentrating on form. Cody stopped at 3 cause his stupid wrist injury was really hurting him. He was amazed that I finished all 5 and asked how I did it. Boy did that feel good. Later that night I was on facebook and Tammy, one of the trainers told me I did good and that she liked to coach me cause I do exactly what she says and she can see my form improve even during the workouts. That was sure good to hear.

WOD #20
50 toes to bar
25 squats
40 push ups
35 squats
30 sit ups
45 squats
20 wall balls
35 squats
10 burpees
25 squats
3 lap run

My time on this was 22:10. I did all the toes to bar the middle mod way which was tough and my abs are loving that today..I am kinda mad that I walked some on the laps but after so many squats my legs felt really weird and I was afraid I was gonna trip and fall so I walked when they got going out of control..Oh well, I finished and that is all that matters:)

WOD #19
They started posting the WOD's on face book the night before and when I saw this one I was so mad. I hated hit the deck the first time it was brutal and since we stand in a circle for this workout the fast people get done first and then watch all the people still working and I hate hate hate that..it makes me self conscious to be watched. Anyway, Cody didn't come with me and Pam didn't go either but I got my guts up and went. And I did way better at this hit the deck than last ime..I only missed 10 push ups and came in with everyone else on the running, meaning I wasn't lagging behind..
The movements were:
hearts=push ups
diamonds=sit ups
clubs=squats
spades=burpees
jokers=run one lap
Ace's were 15 and face cards were 10 and all others were face value.

CrossFit Days #16, #17, and #18

I got behind and now I am confused on what days I did what and what my score was..oh well..today was workout #18 for me..I am sorta frustrated cause I had a PA at my work remeasure me (we have a weight management program at work that one PA started up, she moved to texas last month and our other PA took it over.) But I don't think she measures the same..she says I gained 3 inches in my waist and about the same in my hips. The thing is my clothes don't say that so I am sure she measured diff than Michelle did..

Day #18 WOD
AMRAP for 5 mins for three different rounds and a 2 min rest in between..
20 double unders, 20 knee touches, or 60 single jumps--I can't do double unders so I did the jumping knee touches..
10 kettle bell swings--I did the RX of 20 lbs the whole time:)
**6 or 7 rounds..I ended up putting 6.5 to be fair..I have the hardest time counting when its just the same thing over and over
then i moved on to the second round
10 box jumps..i did the small tire for the first time..and i am so slow at these
10 presses..the RX was 45 so I tried it, but did 3 reps..so I did the 15 lb dumb bells instead for 3 rounds and the 10 lbs for the last 2 when a kid came and stole the 15's
**5.5 rounds
the last round was the hardest for me
10 wall balls the RX weight was 10 but I usually use a 6 or 4 so I moved up to an 8..but when I was doing my push ups the 8 would get taken so I'd start with either the 6 or 10 until the 8 was open..I did about half a round with the 10 and it was so hard..
10 push ups..i am still getting challenged by modified pushups so thats what I start with..i did 3 sets on the ground then moved to the wall..i had forgot that was an option then saw someone else do it so i moved to the wall for 4 rounds..
**7 rounds
total score was 19

Day #17 WOD
Michael
My best so far..I was mad when I got to crossfit cause of the measuring mishap and I was discouraged a little and wanted to work harder..I usually don't care that i finish last but today I wanted to be better..
We did 3 rounds for time of:
800 meter run (3 laps round 1, then 4 laps for round 2 and 3) a total of 11 laps..
50 back extensions
50 sit ups

Lucan was grumpy and I was trying to get him settled so I got a 15 second start behind everyone and that made me mad..as I headed out the door Chad yelled don't forget to knock off 15 secs at the end of yours and I gave him a thumbs up..I was scared of the run..it was hot and I can not breathe well through my nose when I run...it makes me dizzy fast and i want to die..I flew through the first 3 laps and beat some of the people that started before me in (but I think they did the 4 laps first to get it out of the way) but it gave me the motivation i needed to push and go hard while i could..i did the back extensions and sit ups then headed out for my second round of running..i made a thing where I would run hard on the back side of the building in the shade and then slowed down to a fast jog in front where it was sunny..then when i could see the door on my last lap i pushed real hard..i ended up stopping at 24:35 but officially 24:20 with my baby time taken off.. i was amazed that i pushed through the running and didn't walk even for one second..i had the cold chills during and after the workout and was dry heaving in the bathroom again and felt awful..cody never came to pick up the kids so i had to change lucan's diaper and carry him around feeling so crappy..but i recouped ran them home and then headed back to zumba..the best zumba class ever too!! fast songs and hardly no pauses in between..i felt great about today..

Cross Fit #14

FRAN

3 rounds for time

15 power cleans

15 kettle bell swings

15 burpees

15 wall balls

100 meters back wards

I was higher than normal on everything as far as lifting for this work out..It wasn't much compared to everyone else but since this is all about me and comparing myself to what I have done at previous workouts and not others, then it made me way happy..I realize everyone there is at a different fitness level than me and it will do no good to push myself to death just to say I did RX. I want to get form down so I don't hurt myself and can keep this up longer instead of stopping and falling behind just over an injury..So at each workout I am competing with myself only..

Power cleans: I did the 45 bar for the first set and half the second. After that I was compromising my form and so I went down to the 20 lb hand weights.

Kettlebell swings: used the 20 lb when i have always done the 10 or 15 before..

Burpees just plain suck..they hurt, you look retarded doing them and it is busting up my knees..I can never do very many..tho I can do more now than ever before..I still despise them.

Wall balls: I have always used the 4 lb but tonight I did the 6 lb or 9lb not sure which..either way it was heavier than my norm..

Running backwards was fun..I love running short distances..

My time was 22:08

As I was sitting there stretching I got way dizzy and felt a ball of mucous in my throat so I went into the bathroom to spit it up. I ended up dry heaving a whole bunch..It was gross, I definately worked my butt off tonight..

This was Cody's 4th workout and he did awesome finishing aobut a minute before me!!
